Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Central Billing Office Manager and part of an outstanding, experienced, knowledgeable Central Billing Team, Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for insurance follow-up, claim appeals, working denials, payment posting, and various claims processing tasks.
Position Qualifications: High School diploma or GED required Minimum of five years of medical billing or equivalent experience required; Behavioral Health experience preferred. Key Responsibilities / Job Accountabilities: Review and processing of outstanding third party payer Accounts Receivable Completion of necessary claim appeal related to denials and short payments. Knowledge of Patient insurance and benefit verification/eligibility Knowledgeable of criteria for Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and private insurance coverage and payer portals. Posting of payments from insurance companies Communicate daily with insurance carriers, patients, office staff, and other third parties to collect outstanding balances due, resolve disputes, denials, and general nonpayment issues. Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Additional Skills / Qualifications: Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Will need to master additional software including billing software. Excellent telephone and communication skills. Detailed use of Payer Portals Effective oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently. Execute various paperwork, like information files processing, and other daily administrative tasks. Maintain an efficient, organized work environment.
