*General Description*: The Houghton Academy Activities Bus Driver is a responsible and dedicated individual on our team who serves as a part-time, on-call to provide transportation for activities and athletics events. The Bus Driver provides safe and reliable transportation for students to and from various school events, including athletic competitions, field trips, and extracurricular activities. This position is flexible based on the school's event schedule, with varying hours, including evenings and weekends.*Ministry Description Summary* He/she has a calling in his/her heart to serve God as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, is assured of his/her personal worth and professional competence, both in balance with the Scriptures, leads a consecrated life before the Lord, co-workers, students, and parents, and is a committed follower of Jesus Christ. He/she shows a high degree of professionalism and responsibility in fulfilling his/her ministry as an employee of Houghton Academy.*Reports to* Head of School*Qualifications:** Valid New York State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements. (The Academy will reimburse all expenses incurred to secure licensure).* Clean driving record with no major traffic violations.* Previous experience driving a school bus is preferred but optional.* Ability to work a flexible, on-call schedule, including evenings and weekends.* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.* Commitment to student safety and well-being.* Ability to sit for extended periods.* Ability to assist students in an emergency (i.e., CPR certification).* Must be able to perform routine maintenance checks and cleaning tasks on the bus.*Responsibilities*:* Safely transport students, staff, and equipment to and from school events, athletic competitions, and field trips.* Ensure compliance with all school policies, state laws, and safety regulations while driving.* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the bus, ensuring it is in safe operating condition.* Maintain a clean and orderly bus environment.* Assist students as necessary to ensure their comfort and safety during trips.* Communicate effectively with event coordinators, coaches, and school staff regarding schedules and transportation needs.* Be available on short notice for driving assignments as the event schedule requires.Job Type: Part-timePay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hourExpected hours: 5 – 20 per weekBenefits:* Employee discountSchedule:* Monday to Friday* Weekends as neededApplication Question(s):* Do you fully embrace and align with our distinctively Christian philosophy of education and acknowledge that you are a follower of Jesus Christ?* Do you have experience working in a school or Christian ministry setting?
