Position Overview: As a Cytologist, you will be responsible for examining cellular samples under a microscope to detect abnormalities and assist in the diagnosis of various diseases, including cancer. Your expertise in cytological techniques and interpretation will play a crucial role in providing accurate diagnoses and guiding patient treatment plans. Key Responsibilities: Perform microscopic examination of cellular samples, including Pap smears, fine needle aspirations, and body fluid specimens. Identify and classify abnormal cells and structures indicative of disease or malignancy. Prepare detailed reports documenting findings and communicate results to pathologists and healthcare providers. Ensure accuracy and quality control in all aspects of cytology testing procedures. Stay current with advances in cytological techniques, technology, and best practices. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Cytotechnology or a related field. Certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Cytotechnologist in Maryland. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
