Overview:
Provides administrative support to the Unit/Program head in support of overall administrative effectiveness of program(s) and candidate experience within the Graduate School of Education (GSE).
Responsibilities:
Under the general direction of the immediate supervisor with latitude for the exercise of independent initiative and judgment the administrative assistant is responsible for the operations of GSE's Manhattan campus office.
The Administrative Assistant: Provides support in student recruitment by answering and forwarding requests for information as well as organizing application materialsAssists in the admissions and student registration process and records overrides of courses as approvedInforms the supervisor on a weekly basis of current enrollment numbersInforms students regarding course offeringsServes as administrative liaison between unit faculty, administrative offices, and external constituentsPrepares requisitions and orders suppliesCommunicates with technical personnel regarding posting of schedules and website informationInforms students regarding graduation application processCompiles graduation lists for submission to the graduation officer/committeeAssists with course schedulingAssists in the preparation of seminars and candidate registration for clinical experienceAssists with the processing of student appeals as appropriateAssists in the organization of faculty meetings as appropriateAssists and support efforts for continuous improvement state approval of programs and national accreditationIn the temporary absence of the immediate supervisor assumes responsibility for the officeUpholds the missions and visions of Touro and GSEPerforms other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education, Preparation and Training Associate Degree required, bachelors degree desired (compensation varies by credentials)Ability to work collaboratively and collegially in a fast-paced environmentSuccessful, prior administrative experience desiredKnowledge/ Skills/ Abilities Strong analytical skillsProactive problem-solving skillsStrong interpersonal communication skills, verbally and in writingProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, ZOOM, and enrollment management platforms such as Anthology and Apply Yourself HobsonsProficiency with social media desired
