Admissions Counselor The Penn State Berks Admissions Counselor recruits students for the University and the campus, maintains relationships with school counselors, participates in special visitation and recruitment programs on and off campus, and provides support and communication with prospective students and their families. This position will build strong working relationships and partnerships with community organizations in the Reading area. Primary Responsibilities: • Daily conversations and meetings with students and their families • Assisting and presenting at on-campus admissions events • Serving as the campus' primary admissions representative and liaison for Hispanic and Latino community organizations • Updating and maintaining the campus' Spanish language brochures and web pages • Chaperoning bus trips for the Undergraduate Admissions Office • Representing Penn State Admissions at high schools and college fairs • Out of state recruitment for the campus and University • Managing all on-campus group and bus trips • Participating in college fairs • Taking student/parent phone calls and responding to e-mail • Advise, counsel, and provide information to prospective and current students on University programs and processes, as well as eligibility requirements for admission and/or financial aid • Conduct individual appointments and group sessions with students and families • Communicate with a wide variety of audiences internal and external to the University • Serve on campus committees • Attend training and development for the Enrollment Management team Education: • This position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus three years of related experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of the job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Previous experience with a CRM (customer relationship management) system specifically Slate is desirable. The ideal candidate will be a bi-lingual Spanish speaker. Speaking, reading, writing, and communicating in fluent Spanish is required for this position. Successful candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills, a willingness to travel locally and out of state on behalf of the campus and University.
