Responsibilities Peraton has an immediate opening for an Aerospace Ordnance Engineer to support the ELVIS 3 contract performing tasks associated with space launch vehicle ordnance systems. The contract, known as Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 3 (ELVIS 3), will provide end-to-end launch services for NASA and NASA-sponsored payloads on commercial expendable launch vehicles. Responsibilities: Evaluate the design, development, manufacturing, testing, processing, launch performance and troubleshooting of ordnance systems ( Ignition, Separation, Staging, Flight Termination, Release Mechanisms) used by the various launch service providers (United Launch Alliance, Northrop Grumman and SpaceX) for NASA Expendable Launch Vehicle (ELV) missions. Maintain substantial communication with both NASA and launch vehicle contractor engineers to ensure mission success. Provide expert oversight/insight of launch vehicle ordnance systems designs and analysis. Evaluate, formulate, and present at NASA Engineering Review Boards (ERB's) ordnance system concerns that affect future missions. Actively participate and contribute to design reviews, problem reviews, and ERB's. Actively participate and contribute to space launch vehicle ordnance systems hardware acceptance and mission success pedigree and product reviews. Actively participate and contribute to NASA readiness reviews, launch operations at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) and Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) facilities, post flight data review and evaluation/concept studies. Evaluate tests to determine acceptability of ordnance items or need for redesign. Present findings orally and in writing. Participate in/oversee launch vehicle ordnance systems pre-launch integration, checkout, problem resolution and launch. Ability to travel. Qualifications Required Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of ordinance experience with a BS/BA in Chemical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or have equivalent experience and knowledge. US citizenship required. Knowledge of Range Safety requirements. Understanding of primary and secondary explosives. Familiarity with NASA and Industry ordnance standards. Must have experience in or must be willing to learn the design specifications, qualifications and operations of the following ordnance devices and systems: Shaped Charges Separation Bolts Pressure Cartridges Through Bulkhead Initiators (TBI's) Explosive Transfer Lines Cartridge and Pressure Actuated Devices Safe and Arm Motor Ignition Devices Flight termination Release mechanisms. Preferred Qualifications: The candidate must be dependable, self-motivated, have good communication and interpersonal skills, good computer skills, and be familiar with standard Microsoft applications and Windows OS. A thorough understanding of the full launch vehicle/payload mission life cycle involving launch vehicle propulsion systems is a plus. Target Salary Range $86,000 - $138,000.
