The Aircraft Dynamics Engineer will be responsible for both aeroelastic and aeroservoelastic analysis for fixed-wing and vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The engineer will work closely with the Flight Science and Structures teams to feed analysis results into aircraft design loops. You will work with various system experts (such as Motors, Flight Controls, etc.) to ensure that aircraft capability is accurately captured in dynamic analyses. You will collaborate with the Certification team to ensure aeroelastic analysis and design methods align with certification requirements and drive component and aircraft-level test definition. The engineer will need to understand the aircraft at an architecture level to support the effective design and optimization of next-generation electric aircraft.
\n How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation: Lead aircraft aeroelastic analysis in areas including flutter, whirl flutter, control reversal, and divergenceDevelop mass and stiffness representative structural FEM for to support dynamic analysisSupport the development of dynamic analysis processes and results for vertical flight loadsConduct aeroservoelastic analysis on fly-by-wire flight controls systemsWork with system teams such as Structures and Flight Controls to develop requirements from dynamic analysis resultsLead Ground Vibration Test definition and execution, including structural coupling testsUse test results to drive updates to structural FEM and updated requirements for structures and flight controls systemsUse a multidisciplinary understanding of aircraft design to proactively identify areas for improvement in design and analysis Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering or related fieldAt least 3-5 years of experience in aircraft dynamic analysis and testingExperience in the use of industry-standard dynamics analysis software such as NASTRAN, FEMAP, etc.Experience with aerodynamic analysis methods of varying fidelity (panel methods, CFD, etc.)Experience with MATLAB, Python, and CAD tools (CATIA, SolidWorks, etc.)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsCuriosity and ability to identify and rapidly implement new requirements and analysis processes for next generation aircraft. Above and Beyond Qualifications that will distinguish you: Experience with dynamic analysis in vertical flight with analysis tools such as RCAS, particularly for novel aircraft configurationsExperience leading the development and execution of Ground Vibration and Structural Coupling testsExperience with vibration analysis and requirements developmentExperience as an FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER)
