Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse Job Specialty: Ambulatory Care Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour shifts, may need to cover day or night shift Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours Experience: - Preferred: One year of clinical nurse experience - Preferred: Prior experience in specialty area License: Valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license Certifications: - Must have BLS and PALS upon hire - ACLS certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire Must-Have: - Current nursing license - Flu vaccination Job Description: - Coordinate and perform various nursing care procedures for patients of all ages - Make clinical decisions independently during shifts and maintain accountability for actions taken - Consult appropriate managers/supervisors and departments in complex situations - React calmly and exercise sound nursing judgment in emergencies - Delegate and supervise CNA/Tech assignments appropriately - Promote standards of excellence in patient care - Implement safe and efficient care for patients with multisystem diseases or treatment complications - Prioritize care based on patient acuity and preferences - Anticipate potential problems and adapt to changes and emergencies - Manage and document nursing procedures and accurately administer age-specific medications and treatments - Coordinate patient care with physicians and other healthcare team members - Initiate actions to reduce or prevent risks to the patient's health - Facilitate healing through individualized, goal-oriented nursing care based on scientific principles - Educate patients and their families about tests, procedures, and disease processes - Develop skills to enhance decision making and promote understanding among patients, families, and staff - Provide emotional, intellectual, and psychological support to patients and utilize other healthcare professionals for psychosocial problems - Evaluate patient progress towards goals and adjust care plans as needed - Complete thorough nursing assessments, including interviewing and observation - Identify problems and nursing diagnoses while recognizing the impact on patients and families - Transcribe and note physician orders accurately and initiate patient care plans - Provide educational programs and learning aids in the department - Communicate constructively and positively with staff, patients, and team members - Assist in orientating new staff, travelers, and students - Participate in staff meetings and unit goal setting Additional Duties: Perform duties as assigned, ensure quality patient care, and maintain a supportive and cooperative work environment.
