Summary/Objective Horizon Investments is seeking an Analyst on the Portfolio Management team with three years or less work experience to support the research and investment decision-making processes across the firm's core investment strategies. The Portfolio Management team focuses on discretionary strategy implementation and qualitative macro research as applied to equities, fixed income, and derivative-based portfolios. Expertise and interest in macroeconomics and market dynamics and the application of this information to asset allocation decisions is a must. The Analyst will also interact with the Quantitative Research team on a daily basis to aid in the overall investment process. This interaction requires strong fluency with data and the application of advanced statistical concepts.

Conduct strategy research in an effort to recommend improvements or run data analytics at the direction of Portfolio Managers staff.Conduct self-directed research and idea generation for improvements to existing processes, as well as new processes and strategies.Synthesize running knowledge of topical cross-asset catalysts, events, and trends into actionable investment ideas, taking into account systematic signals and portfolio objectives.Create and maintain market indicators and dashboards leveraging price, fundamental, economic, and alternative data.Run pre- and post-trade risk reports using a variety of technical investment management tools and create presentations and reports to effectively communicate the results to the Investment Team.Write trade commentary, performance commentary, and process documents for the covered strategies, as well as communicate market views in both written and verbal presentations to internal and external stakeholders.Run performance and attribution reports using a variety of technical investment management tools and create presentations and reports to effectively communicate the results to the Investment Team.Implement trade instructions and work with the trading team to validate and reconcile trade execution for a range of product implementations for the covered strategies.Actively participate in Investment Team research and portfolio allocation meetings.Adheres to and demonstrates Horizon's corporate values on a consistent basis. Competencies Outstanding analytical skills with strong Microsoft Excel skills as a minimum requirement.Programming experience, or at a minimum the desire and affinity to learn programming skills. Python and Matlab are the preferred programming software tools used by the team.A strong technical background related to Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, and / or Computer Science. A business background is not required.Experience with, or at a minimum a strong desire and affinity to learn, using a variety of technical investment management tools such as Bloomberg, Factset, and Morningstar.Good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.Excellent attention to detail, organizational ability, and follow-through on a variety of time-sensitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.A passion for markets and investing.
