Job Description - Analyst, Prospect Management and Research (2404036) Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time professional experience in prospect research, data analysis, and/or related field. Proficiency using Microsoft Excel data functions (i.e. pivot tables and formulas).
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional years (3+) of relevant experience in prospect research, data analysis, and/or related field. Experience working in higher education, non-profit, or related fields. Experience with prospect research software (i.e. Wealth Screenings, LexisNexis, WealthEngine, Hoover's, etc.). Direct experience in fundraising operations. Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar relational database.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Stony Brook University Advancement Analyst, Prospect Management and Research will support Advancements and the Prospect Management and Research team's mission by identifying broad prospect pools, supporting program tactics for prospect identification, and providing research and analysis on individuals, corporations, and foundations. The Analyst will be responsible for disseminating information on stakeholders, maximizing and leveraging prospect research initiatives set by the Senior Director, and conducting prospect research utilizing publicly available information sources as well as data provided through internal and external sources. They will partner closely with the Prospect Management and Research team, Data Services, Development, and other University Advancement teams to support Stony Brook University Advancement's goals.
Prospect Research and Data Analysis:Conduct analysis on diverse data sets to help the Advancement team and University enhance understanding of current and potential major gift prospects and improve donor and alumni outreach efforts. Support the identification and evaluation of these prospects.Compose documents such as profiles, biographies, and project summaries using style, grammar, and content appropriate to specific audiences.Utilizing ethical intelligence-gathering techniques, provide high-level research on constituents using a wide variety of sources, including state-of-the-art online database services, internet websites, library and government sources, and other external repositories of public information.Prospect Management:Support the Development department in fundraising initiatives by assisting in the identification and review of prospects needed for campaign and ongoing programmatic support.Support prospect updates for the donor continuum, to include monitoring contacts, solicitations, proposal schedules and updating prospect assignments.Support prospect knowledge updates, including ratings, interests and linkages acquired through research, are preserved and maintained in a database system that is accessible to campus wide fundraising staff and used to develop future cultivation strategies.Prospect Data Tracking and Integrity:Maintain a high level of data accuracy and integrity, ensuring all data elements are properly communicated and archived for future reporting and retrieval.Ensure all data is managed with the highest level of sensitivity, maintain information based on the policies and procedures of the Stony Brook Foundation and University.Handles extremely sensitive information with confidentiality.Maintain integrity, donor trust, and confidentiality at all times.Growth/Development:Seek opportunities for growth and learning to improve personal and team performance and contribute to the success of the organization.Share insights and best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning within the team.Other duties as assigned.Special Notes:
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
