Description
The purpose of this job is to complete sample analyses and communicate results. The employee must have knowledge of equipment operation and be able to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment errors to maintain continuous operation and minimize the use of any external commercial lab facilities
Major activities/Key challenges
• The major activities are sample preparation and analysis by the following methods: ICP, SEM, XRD, XRF, Leco, PSA, SA, MS, and TGA/ Dil. In addition to sample analysis, the employee must understand the basic theory of equipment operation and be able to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment errors. The employee should use control standards properly to identify pass/fail criteria and evaluate data quality. The employee must be able to communicate results using excel, PP, and word. The employee must be able to manage multiple work requests daily and have excellent time management skills.
• The employee must be able to prioritize safety while working with laboratory hazards including radiation sources, acids and bases, and human/environmental toxins.
• The employee must be able to communicate clearly and effectively and provide equipment training to new users. Due to continuous operations, the employee may be required to provide technical support outside traditional work hours
Essential Knowledge & Skills/Education
• The educational requirement is a 4-year degree in chemistry or another science or engineering field. Essential knowledge is a year of experience using a minimum of 4 of the listed analytical equipment: ICP, SEM, XRD, XRF, Leco, PSA, SA, MS, and TGA/ Dil.
• Relevant (relevant to performance of particular position to accomplish business goals)
• 4-year degree in chemistry or another science or engineering discipline (I.e. biology, biochemistry, physics, geology, materials science, or engineering) is required.
• 1 year of work experience in a lab setting is expected.
• Experience with some of the following instruments is preferred: ICP, SEM, XRD, XRF, Leco, PSA, SA, MS, and TGA/ Dil.
Special Instructions: (ITAR, Shoes, Clothing, Parking ….) US Citizenship Required
Additional Comments: We would prefer a degree – if someone has very applicable experience without the degree, we would still consider this hire.
Shift (example: First Shift): M-TR 10-hour days or M-F 8 hour days (open)
Shift Hours (example: 8am to 5pm, 1 hour for lunch):
- 32 OR 40 hours a week
- M-TR 10 hours M-F 8 hours a day
