Who we are looking for:Arclin is currently seeking talent for an Applications Technologist position in our Springfield, OR location. Reporting to the Product Development and Applications Manager, this position performs physical testing of wood composites for product development and customer projects, testing of new or modified company products and technologies, while maintaining the laboratory and wood shop in a safe, clean, and well-ordered manner.Responsibilities:Prepare and conduct lab testing of plywood and composite panelsPrecisely cut panel products into small test specimens and evaluate according to industry standard methodsOperate lab equipment and power tools according to Arclin policies and procedures.Maintain woodshop and press room; arrange for service and repairs as required; routinely investigate all lab equipment and inventory levelsDocument test results and maintain thorough and accurate written records of all lab activities and resultsProvide technical support to the Applications Manager at project meetingsOperate in a variable environment: Wood shop, office, product development laboratory, applications laboratory, and Arclin chemical manufacturing sitesOccasional exposure to hazardous materials and potentially hazardous environments that require the use & wearing of personal protective equipmentFollow all site rules and procedures as they apply to health, safety, and the environmentRequired Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent with verification of work experienceDemonstrated ability to work both individually and on a teamAbility to maintain focus and detail while repeating tasksAbility to stand for an entire shiftExperience safely operating powered woodworking equipmentCapability to communicate clearly and efficiently verbally and to prepare written reports with emphasis on technical clarity and accuracyAbility to lift up to 50 lbsProper use and maintenance of required PPEDesired Qualifications:Post-Secondary Diploma from a technical school/community college or an A.S. in a science or mechanical related field3+ years' experience working in an industrial, maintenance, or laboratory environmentDemonstrated mechanical aptitudeExperience with wood anatomy and characteristicsExperience with carpentry, welding, or fabricating**Please note: The above statements are designed to outline the functions and position requirements of this job.
