About the Agency: The mission of the Mississippi Insurance Department is to impartially enforce the laws and regulations enumerated in Mississippi Code Ann. Section 83-1-1 et seq., thereby creating and environment conducive to a competitive marketplace for the sale of insurance products and services while providing the State's citizens with the maximum amount of consumer protection. About the Position: This position is with the MS Insurance Department, Information Technology Division. It will support and maintain the availability, functionality, efficiency and design of MID's website. Will be involved in the design and development of applications that reside on or may appear on the website. Will be involved in application development as well as system analysis and design. Will be involved in the design and development of applications and databasesthat will work across multiple platforms and software. Will be involved in database administration, managing Microsoft, Oracle and Access databases.

What you'll need to be Successful: Successful candidate must have strong communication skills as well as great listening skills. Can work in a team environment and get along well with others. Excellent organizational skills and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with 2-5 years IT experience with emphasis in application development and support. Agency preferred qualifications: Must have experience with WordPress, Microsoft Visual Studio.NET, HTML, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, VB and ASP.

Minimum Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2-5+ years of IT experience with emphasis in applications development and support.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.
