Job Overview
The Architectural Design Specialist is responsible for support of school systems design projects, studies, and related tasks. This position assists the Architect, Architectural Coordinator and Design Team with school design and construction projects in reviewing plans and specifications for compliance with, applicable standards and project record documentation requirements, including Design Deliverables, Building Information Modeling, and meeting minutes during the design phase of projects. The position will utilize the Construction Project Management Program. Roles and Responsibilities
The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
Reviews all project deliverable package for completeness at each design phase of the project. Assists in reviewing all project deliverables for conformance with LCPS requirements, including Guideline Specifications and Educational (Program) Specifications. Responsible for reviewing consultant-prepared meeting minutes and record keeping for accuracy. Maintains approved updates to various LCPS Guidelines, Standards and Specifications documents related to architectural components to comply with current requirements; coordinates the complete specification documents with other disciplines. Prepares design concepts for miscellaneous design projects for review by Architectural Coordinator and Architect; reviews and coordinates design efforts with Architect and/or Architectural Coordinator. Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable. Education Associates Degree in Architectural Design related discipline, Computer Aided Design, Construction Technology, or related acceptable school design and/ or construction experience. Experience Five years CADD and Revit experience General knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, construction principles and practices as applied to the construction of school facilities, and other applicable requirements governing school construction Licenses and Certifications
N/A Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to maintain accurate and complete records; to apply standards, codes, and other requirements to varying situations Demonstrated professional and personal characteristics necessary for working effectively with, architects, engineers, and contractors, as requested by the Architect and/ or Architectural Coordinator Working knowledge of computer software (including E-mail, Internet, Microsoft Office, Construction Project Management Software, CADD,) Excellent human relations and communications skills Physical Requirements
