Chrysalis House, Inc. a residential treatment facility dedicated to supporting women and their children in their journey towards recovery and empowerment, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Art Therapist.
This role plays a crucial part in our holistic approach to therapy, utilizing the creative process of art-making to help residents explore emotions, improve self-esteem, and develop coping mechanisms.

SUMMARY: The Art Therapist is responsible for using a holistic and therapeutic approach while providing diagnostic assessments, therapy, and counseling and support services.
This position evaluates, plans, designs, and implements Art Therapy services for our clients specifically relating to substance abuse treatment
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Conduct individual and group art therapy sessions tailored to the specific needs of residents, utilizing a variety of artistic mediums and techniques.
Perform initial assessments and develop personalized treatment plans based on residents' therapeutic needs and goals.
Regularly evaluate and document residents' progress and adjust therapy plans as necessary in collaboration with the clinical team.
Work closely with other members of the interdisciplinary team, including counselors, psychologists, and medical staff, to ensure integrated care and support for residents.
Provide psychoeducation to residents on the benefits of art therapy and facilitate workshops on topics related to creative expression and mental health.
Counsel clients, individually and in group sessions, to assist them in overcoming dependencies, adjusting to life, and making changes Modify treatment activities and approaches as needed to comply with changes in clients' status.
Submit billing and other related paperwork in a timely fashion Maintain all professional licensure(s) required and provide prompt cooperation with third party credentialing for billing purposes.
Maintain up-to-date client and program records as required by funders and agency.
Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports Learn about new developments in field by reading professional literature, attending courses and seminars, and establishing and maintaining contact with other social service agencies Other duties as assigned OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must demonstrate understanding of special treatment needs of women substance abusers in a residential treatment setting and show evidence of empathy, sensitivity, and maturity.
Must demonstrate highest professional ethical standards and adhere to Chrysalis House Core Values and Code of Ethics Ability to provide genuine warmth, empathy, honesty, sensitivity towards clients to help assist in fostering positive transformation.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists under the requirements for Licensed Graduate Professional Art Therapist (LGPAT).
Prefer candidate with five years of providing diagnostic assessment experience and therapy services to a full range of individuals from youth through adulthood, addressing a wide variety of problems and disorders, in a multicultural setting.

Most days, employees will be working a portion of the day outside in temperatures ranging from 20F with wind chill to 95F.
