Job SummaryThe History Department at Radford University seeks a tenure-track assistant/associate professor in United States history to begin August 2025. The successful candidate will offer upper-division courses in Public History, other United States history courses, and ideally Appalachian history. In addition, the position requires teaching introductory surveys in United States history. The position also provides the opportunity to collaborate with students and other faculty in the Department's Center for Archives and Digital History. The successful candidate will have an active scholarly agenda and engage in university service. Applicants should have a History Ph.D. in hand by August 2025.
The Department of History is committed to fostering an atmosphere of equity, diversity, and inclusivity within our undergraduate programs. The department oversees its own major as well as the Social Science Teaching major, designed to train future high school social science teachers, and its courses contribute to many other majors and minors across campus.
Required QualificationsExperience teaching U.S. history surveys;Training and/or experience in Public History;Demonstrated commitment to high-quality teaching, scholarship, and student engagement;Ph.D. in History by the August 2025 start date.Preferred QualificationsPreference given to candidates with ability to teach Appalachian history;Training/experience in Digital History.Salary: Commensurate With Experience
