Grace College invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication, with responsibilities including teaching, advising, department and college service, scholarly activity, and professional development. Teaching responsibilities include courses in interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, public speaking, communication theory, and/or other topics in the candidate's field of expertise. The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to liberal arts undergraduate education and will help support the Communication Program's Public Speaking in Society general education course.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to a faculty member who seeks to grow the Communication Program. The Communication Program, which is part of the Department of Humanities, is housed within the School of Arts and Humanities. The Department of Humanities sponsors many activities including a campus newspaper, a literary magazine, a competitive mediation team, and author/speaker visits. We welcome an innovative colleague who is enthusiastic about designing new courses, mentoring students, fostering intellectual community, and engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Communication or related field. Evidence of excellence in teaching. A strong commitment to the mission and values of a Christian liberal arts institution, and a desire to integrate faith with learning in all areas of life. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and students. Evidence of relevant scholarship and scholarly potential (including, ideally, the ability to involve undergraduates in research). Additional relevant area of knowledge, professional experience, and/or teaching ability (e.g. journalism, political science, media studies, business communication, healthcare communication, etc.)
