Matthews Contracting Company.
As the Assistant Corporate Counsel, you will be an experienced attorney looking to join a hard working, close knit and family centered team in Marietta, GA.
In this role you will collaborate directly with the executive team, risk management and field operations team to work on a variety of legal issues including claims handling, contract negotiations and assisting with labor and employment situations.
We are looking for an experienced attorney who is detail oriented, highly driven, collaborative, and passionate about supporting the largest heavy construction team in the state of Georgia.

POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide advice to management on contracts, claims and other legal matters.Serve as a partner with management in the negotiation of business deals and assists with the negotiation of construction management agreements, subcontracts, and other complex legal agreements.Investigate and defend pre-litigation bodily injury and workers' compensation claims.Liaison with and provide support to outside counsel on all matters in litigation.Handle legal inquiries from within the company and offers comprehensive legal advice to all internal partners and stakeholders.Work closely with management to resolve claims with third parties.Assist Corporate Counsel on a variety of legal matters.Investigate and defend pre-litigation bodily injury and workers' compensation claims.Oversee handling of property damage claims and pursue recovery of others at fault.Assist with labor and employment matters and claims.Oversee potential breach of contract and claims for contractual additional compensation.Oversee and provide strategic leadership to a team of six employees.Meet with department heads to review and discuss potential legal issues or regulatory compliance.Address all insurance matters dealing with placement, compliance, and procurement.Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team and Corporate Counsel. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university and a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school, required.Bar Admission in Georgia or willing to secure the same, required.2-7 years of experience in the regular practice of law in a corporate legal department and/or a full-service law firm.Ability to handle multiple tasks daily and complete tasks with a sense of urgency.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and decisively make decisions.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
