Basic Purpose
The Assistant Director of Community Standards at Assumption University plays a vital role in fostering a respectful and accountable campus environment.
Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Residential Life and Community Standards, this position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of a comprehensive community standards program.
The role involves training students and staff on community expectations, reviewing and revising policies, and providing educational programming to promote personal growth and civil discourse in support of the mission of the University.
Accountabilities: Community Standards Management Assist in coordinating and overseeing the resolution of disciplinary responses to alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct, including reviewing Incident Reports from Residence Life staff, Campus Police, or other referring parties.
Support the Assistant Dean in leading investigations for cases referred to the Community Standards process.
Help manage the creation and maintenance of all community standards records using databases like Maxient, and assist in educating and monitoring other hearing officers in record maintenance.
Campus Training & Education Provide ongoing training for Residence Life staff and other campus partners on the community standards process and assist in supervising the implementation of this process to ensure fairness and adherence to process.
Facilitate educational programming for students and campus members on community standards to promote accountability, productive discourse, and mutual respect.
Evaluate community standards processes, procedures, and programs; gather input from community members, including students, for annual policy review and updates.
Maintain up-to-date documentation of systems and protocols in Community Standards for training purposes.
Administrative Assist in reviewing, revising, and disseminating the Student Handbook, ensuring it reflects current legal and policy developments.
Serve on committees addressing student health, safety, and wellness issues, such as alcohol, drug use, and sexual assault prevention.
Additional Responsibilities: Serve as a member of the Administrator on Call team Participate in Student Affairs and campus-wide committees.
Maintain office hours from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications A master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or a related field.
2-3 years of professional experience in student affairs, community standards, or a related field.
Strong understanding of student conduct processes and relevant legal considerations.
Experience working with Maxient or a similar community standards software system.
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University.
ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE:
This position is designated as an Essential Employee.
Essential Employees are those who are expected to be on duty to operate the University and provide for the safety and well-being of our students when normal operations are suspended e.g., when classes are cancelled or delayed and when non-essential employees are released from work.
Staffing of essential support services may be at reduced levels, determined by the Administrator, dependent on the needs of our students.
No compensatory time, additional wages or premium wages will be paid under these circumstances since the suspended hours are scheduled hours and part of each employee's regular duties.
