Assistant Director, Marketing & Communications [JRP-06163] The University of Houston is currently seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Marketing & Communications. In this role, you will serve as the lead for marketing and communications for the Student Health Center, as well as taking a leadership role with a team of individuals in a collaborative approach to marketing and communications for the Health and Wellbeing Team (including UH Wellness, Counseling and Psychological Services, Cougars in Recovery, Campus Recreation, and Justin Dart Jr. Student Accessibility Center).
RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and oversee the implementation of a brand strategy for the Health and Wellbeing Team (HWB Team) that balances high level consistent messaging, as well as promoting specific programs and services while maintaining that brand threadEnsure alignment with the Division of Student Affairs and University Marketing and Communications branding and ensure compliance with standardsLead the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communication plan for the HWB Team in collaboration with the HWB Leadership Team (department Directors and AVP) and others holding marketing and communications responsibilities in the departmentsContinue to refine and implement the three-level model of marketing and communications for the HWB Team that includes University level messaging HWB overarching level messaging, and department/program level messagingOversee the development and execution of HWB marketing and communications campaigns that may include one or more of the following purposes: health and wellness education (why and how to be well), awareness, promotion, engagement, caring, and celebrationApply best practices in health and wellness education and promotion including social norming.Ensure a strong first impression and entry-point to HWB knowledge, including presence at New Student Orientation and other division and university eventsLead the development and execution of strategy for deploying marketing and communications tools including websites, social media, advertising, and promotional materialsOversee the design and production of marketing and communications materials including writing, graphic design, digital production, media content, printing, and other publication-related servicesUse evidence-based strategies to determine appropriate messaging and channels for different populations and tailored to the intended audience(s)Cultivate partnerships with internal and external partners to ensure the success of the HWB Team's marketing and communications strategyAssist with the design and execution of strategic marketing partnerships and sponsorship programs and identify potential sponsorsAdminister marketing assessments and contribute to departmental assessments to evaluate marketing and communications strategiesMaintain records and create various reports including semi-annual and annual reportsGather information and ensure we tell powerful success stories of those we serve and the programs and services that are helping to create health and wellbeing at UHDetermine appropriate staffing needs for supporting marketing and communications strategies while providing opportunities for student learning and developmentRecruit, select, supervise, and mentor student staff (interns, peer educators, graduate assistants, etc.)Coordinate work among HWB MarComm colleaguesMonitor budget and expenses, equipment inventory, supplies, promotional items, materials and make recommendation for purchasesManage comprehensive marketing and communication programs, including research strategy and execution, designed to support the college or division's strategic goals and objectivesParticipate in strategic planning, market research and service effectiveness initiativesAssists in departmental operations, including management of staff, planning and administration of budget and resourcesCoordinate events and programs that engage and educate the campus community on college or division initiativesMay provide leadership and serve as a resource for a college or division regarding successful marketing activities, techniques and methodsStay informed of best practices in integrated marketing, brand messaging and current market trends in higher education, and translates that understanding into successful strategic marketing for the college or divisionDirect the strategic marketing, branding and content of college or division web sitesPerforms other job-related duties as requiredREQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degreeMinimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experienceThe policy of the University of Houston System and its universities is to ensure equal opportunity in all its educational programs and activities, and all terms and conditions of employment without regard to age, race, color, disability, religion, national origin, ethnicity, military status, genetic information, sex (including gender and pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity or status, or gender expression, except where such a distinction is required by law.
