Job Goal:
To assist the superintendent substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining the best possible educational programs and services.
Performance Responsibilities: Attends Board meetings and prepares such reports for the Board as the Superintendent may request Assists in the determination of types of services needed by the schools and the district's ancillary programs, and makes appropriate recommendations Reports on the status of district programs and services at the request of the superintendent Prepares drafts of needed Board policies and administrative rules for the superintendent's review and action Plays a significant leadership role in program development and in-service education for the professional staff in their program area Serves upon assignment by the superintendent as a resource person to all professional staff in the district Maintains liaison with social, professional, civic, volunteer, and other community agencies and groups having an interest in the schools Establishes necessary procedures for referral and cooperative planning with other agencies, both local and state, that provide services to children Communicates to the superintendent the requirements and needs of the district as perceived by staff members Prepares state reports and claims as required Plays a significant leadership role in fostering professional growth and building of staff morale throughout the district Plans and directs a program for the best delivery of services for students who qualify for special education under IDEA Insures district compliance with the IDEA federal regulations and insures compliance with the Missouri State Plan Maintains records for special education students Reports data to the DESE pertaining to special education students Monitors the assignments of district non-certificated para professionals, district certificated DHH interpreters, district contracted staff Evaluates (in conjunction with building principals) district process coordinators, the district school psychologist Organizes the district professional development for para professionals Plans and monitors the Medicaid administrative claiming contracted program Plans and monitors the district direct billing contracted program Provides professional development for district process coordinators Assigns and monitors out-of-district contractual placements Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign. Terms of Employment:
The Co-Director of Special Services will be hired for a twelve (12) month position.
The salary and work year will be established annually by the Board of Education.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
