As an Assistant General Counsel, you will have the opportunity to work with other attorneys, executives, and employees at all levels. The team you will be working with is collaborative and team-oriented, and values how vital this role is to the success of the company. The position would be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement; however, there is a strong preference for candidates within two to three hours' drive of the Troy/Detroit, MI area. There would be occasional travel required.
So, what will you be doing as an Assistant General Counsel? Build and maintain strong relationships with our Automotive Leadership Team.Providing thoughtful, relevant, and timely advice to the Automotive Leadership Team on a variety of legal topics, including but not limited to, contractual and transactional issues, risk management strategies, disputes, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property matters.Provide strategic counseling on, drafting, interpreting, and updating policies and procedures.Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.Monitoring new and emerging developments globally in applicable laws and regulations and identifying potential impacts that could affect the company and its business units.Assisting the business with understanding and complying with new and/or changing laws and regulations as it relates to the Automotive industry.Handling or managing a broad range of matters, such as warranty, pricing and labor disputes.Develop and implement legal strategies to mitigate risks and resolve disputes efficiently.Promoting legal, compliance, and risk management best practices throughout the business.Designing and delivering legal training materials to the business.Performing additional duties as assigned, which may extend beyond our Automotive business unit.To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Need 7 to 10 years of relevant experience as a practicing attorney in the automotive industry or in-house at a public company that operates within the automotive industry.Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.Active bar member in good standing.In-depth understanding of legal principles, including those related to automotive manufacturing, product liability, contract law, and regulatory compliance.Proven experience as a legal counsel to business clients.High ethical standards, integrity, and professionalism.What To Do Next
