Position Summary: Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of machinery, equipment, and facilities while also assisting in the management of the maintenance team.
This role involves a balance of technical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, team supervision, and administrative tasks to ensure operational efficiency and team effectiveness.
Essential Job Functions: Oversee the manufacturing plant's preventative and predictive maintenance program to ensure reliable operational performance of equipment, injection molding tooling, and processes.Plans, prioritizes, directs and controls the work performed by Mechanics utilizing the plant's PM program.Provide coverage in the absence of the Manufacturing Maintenance ManagerProvide technical support for controls, toolroom, electrical and mechanical systems and equipment.Aids Maintenance Manager to monitor Maintenance KPIs and PM system reports and uses these reports to initiate remedial actions to improve maintenance performance.Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications and standards.Meet project completion timelines.Assists with determining supply and equipment needs, ordering supplies and managing maintenance budget appropriate approvals.Responsible for ensuring maintenance personnel are trained and following all safety practices and procedures, and enhances current practices where needed.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and inspections.
Coordinate with vendors to ensure that all work and services are provided in a timely manner.Ensure that work orders are created for on-demand repairs and/or PMs.Monitor and manage inventory levels of spare parts and maintenance supplies.
Order and procure necessary parts and tools in a timely manner.Utilize CMMS software to analyze and report on machine down-timeEnsure all maintenance activities adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements. Education / Certifications High School diploma or equivalent.Technical or BA degree in a related field or a plus.Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance or tooling supervisory experience; ideally in a medical device manufacturing facility or other process manufacturing environment.A combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted. Knowledge/Experience Background managing maintenance or tooling resources in a continuous manufacturing setting.
Worked with managing schedules, overtime, and departmental expenses of a sizeable maintenance or tooling group.Microsoft Office and CMMS software proficiency.Preferred knowledge: Plastics processing (Injection Molding), injection molding tooling, hydraulics, high-speed automation and controls, electrical competency ISO 13485: Medical Devices Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, LEED CertificationLean Manufacturing knowledge and experience a plus Abilities Must demonstrate leadership and good judgment in approaching decisions.Work requires the ability to read, write and communicate in English in order to understand and follow work and safety instructions.
Must be able to perform basic arithmetic to include adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.Specific tasks require standing for long periods, reaching above shoulders, walking, lifting, grasping, kneeling, bending and twisting.Ability to work in a team environment.Ability to assist in troubleshooting and repairs of production equipment.
