Details of the offer

The Department of Music in the College of Arts and Sciences at Case Western Reserve University invites applications for an appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor on the tenure track, starting in the fall 2025 semester. The Department seeks a musicologist or ethnomusicologist whose research focuses on global and/or popular music since 1800. Duties include a teaching load of two courses per semester in addition to a share of departmental advising on the undergraduate and graduate levels, plus service to the department and/or college.
The successful candidate for this position will join a vibrant team of music scholars, artists, and educators. CWRU and The Cleveland Institute of Music cooperate in a Joint Music Program, providing students with the advantages of both a conservatory and a major research university. The two institutions share a campus setting in University Circle, together with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Music Settlement, and over twenty other cultural organizations.
Qualifications
Applicants must have at minimum a completed PhD in in musicology or ethnomusicology by August 1, 2025, an active program of research and publication in musicology and/or ethnomusicology, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching.
