The Long Island University College of Veterinary Medicine (LIU-CVM) located in Brookville, New York, invites applications from self-directed, motivated individuals to join the LIU veterinary pathology team composed of 3 board certified anatomic pathologists. The position may be filled at a full-time tenure-track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. We are seeking qualified DVM individuals with specialty training in clinical pathology interested in teaching in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
Successful candidates will be engaged in the College's educational and diagnostic service activities. Priority will be given to candidates with solid diagnostic and teaching background. Successful candidates must be naturally adept at promoting LIU-CVM's mission of enhancing veterinary medical education through excellence in teaching, research, and service, to a variety of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing independent or collaborative research in disciplines that contribute to the College of Veterinary Medicine's mission. Active engagement in curriculum development, identification or creation of innovative learning resources, committee service participation (such as admissions, curriculum, research, etc.), and collaborative scholarly activity is expected.
About The College of Veterinary Medicine at Long Island University:In April 2020, LIU-CVM was granted Provisional Accreditation status by the AVMA Council on Education. With approximately fifty off-campus clinical sites, LIU CVM utilizes a distributed model of clinical education. In addition to teaching and research space, the college has modern physical facilities and laboratory equipment designed to provide diagnostic pathology support (autopsy, histopathology, and cytology services) to our clinical partners and university researchers, and to accommodate specific instructional needs of our DVM program.
Qualifications:The successful candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or DVM equivalent degree, and a MSc, PhD or other earned doctoral degree in biomedical sciences. Board certification by the American or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (Clinical Pathology), or eligibility to seat the American or European pathology boards, is required. Candidates will have a record of scholarly achievement as an independent and/or collaborative researcher consistent with the appointed rank. Additionally, candidates will have a strong commitment to professional DVM and graduate student education, proven strength teaching in large and small group settings, good communication skills, and the ability to promote a culture of collegiality, diversity and inclusiveness within the workplace.
