Stewart/Perry is an employee-centered construction company offering general contracting and construction management services, building mostly in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states. We are looking for an Assistant Construction Project Manager to assist in planning and completing a wide range of construction projects from start to finish. This position will be permanently based in our home office and no travel will be required.
While we build many large-scale projects, there are many ways we still operate like a smaller shop. Our project management teams can influence every aspect of the projects their team runs, from estimating through punch lists, giving everyone a real sense of ownership. We like to see our Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers involved in new business efforts, and we value long-term relationships and repeat builds with our customers.
Our Assistant Project Managers will assist Project Managers in organizing construction procedures and ensuring they are completed in a timely and efficient manner. The ideal Assistant Project Manager candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget.
Others working in this role assist with RFI and submittal logs, change orders, documentation, subcontractor relations, and a variety of other day-to-day project administration tasks detailed below. We are looking for a professional who is willing to learn and has a good work ethic as well as origination skills to add value to our projects.
Responsibilities Reviews project questions (RFIs) and tracks the status with the field and architectsReviews subcontractor submittals and tracks the status with architect and ownerPerforms overall quality control of the work in accordance with the plans and specificationsDetermines project schedule by studying project plans and specifications; calculating time requirements and sequencing project eventsTracks and updates schedule activities as the job progressesDevelops project scope by reviewing project proposals and plansReviews project specifications & plans including quantity take of and preparing cost estimatesReviews jobsite for compliance with OSHA and best safety practicesAttends jobsite meetings and creates meeting minutes and agendasReviews and approves jobsite invoicesPrepares jobsite preconstruction meetings that are trade specificTracks job cost using accounting softwareMaintains project database and job specific informationMaintains job plans and addendums and distributes to the field and subcontractorsObtains job permits and impact feesCreates subcontractor scope of work for subcontract and bid tab sheetsAssists in estimating including bid solicitation and review of subcontractor bidsSkills Outstanding communication and negotiation skillsExcellent organizational and time-management skillsA team player with leadership abilities and a collaborative spiritOffers unique perspectives and innovative ideas for improvementRequirements Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related fieldProficient in Microsoft OfficeThis is a full-time position based at our corporate campus in Birmingham and no extended travel will be required. Salary Range: $72,000-$80,000 depending on experience
