Position Summary: The primary location of this position is the Cullowhee, NC campus. The Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development will lead fundraising efforts for the "Fill the Western Sky: The Campaign for Western Carolina University". This role includes supervising various directors and developing fundraising strategies to increase philanthropic support for the university.
The Assistant Vice Chancellor will manage operations and programs related to fundraising, overseeing the full donor cycle from prospect management to stewardship. This position requires knowledge of higher education fundraising best practices and effective communication skills.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position: Minimum Qualifications: Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of experience in nonprofit finance, development, or fundraising, preferably in higher education. Proven success in cultivating and soliciting major gifts. At least two years of experience managing full-time staff. Knowledge of current best practices in higher education fundraising. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience using research and data for decision-making. Proficiency in CRM systems. Willingness to work on-site and travel as needed. Experience with a CRM database system. Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a related field. 7-10 years of advancement experience in public higher education. Experience in program planning and evaluation. Experience in executing comprehensive fundraising campaigns. Proficiency in Blackbaud Raisers Edge NXT. Experience in capital or facilities fundraising. Experience in Athletics fundraising.
