The Assistant Vice President (AVP) serves as a key leader and an active participant in developing, overseeing, executing, and measuring the Jimmy Fund's event fundraising efforts. The AVP manages a team of 20 staff members responsible for connecting and fostering donor relationships, building visibility and impact, and raising more than $15 million annually through signature community-based fundraisers and a robust program of 300+ volunteer-run fundraisers and golf tournaments. These events and programs include the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, Jimmy Fund Day at Fenway, Rally Against Cancer, the Jimmy Fund Little League program, Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl, and more. The individual must have a successful track record in management functions such as aligning executional plans with organizational outcomes, organizing, inspiring, and evaluating. Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals. Reports to Vice President, Jimmy Fund. The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

Fundraising Strategy & Plan Work with the Vice President, Jimmy Fund to develop ambitious and realistic fundraising strategies and collaborate with the entire leadership team to formulate tactical plans, accountability, and measurement metrics;Lead revenue opportunities and ensure appropriate resources are in place to achieve the team's goals and objectives;Create and manage event budgets, maintain financial records, and oversee daily office functions;Ensure ongoing program excellence, conduct program evaluation and needs analysis to maintain superior delivery;Expand revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations; use external relationships, including community leaders, to garner new opportunities;Collaborate with staff across the Division to identify and cultivate individual, corporate, and foundation philanthropic support; assess and solicit possible corporate and individual event underwriting.Culture & Team Development Cultivate a team culture consistent with Dana-Farber values and promotes high performance and accountability;Manage, coach, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team through a period of change as we develop and transition to new frameworks, approaches, and organizational constructs, ensuring access to appropriate professional development, learning, and growth opportunities;Recruit, lead, develop, and retain high-performing professional talent, creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment focused on development and teamwork;Provide leadership in cross-departmental communication, coordination, and cohesiveness, identifying synergies and collaborative opportunities between departments and organizational functions;Deliver consistently high-quality staff performance management, budgeting, financial and administrative management, operations, and other systems to achieve program goals.Community Relationships Maintain long-standing community partnerships while engaging new partners that align with the strategic growth plan;Build key relationships with communities and partners that expand the Jimmy Fund brand to new communities, new audiences, and the next generation of donors;Steward and cultivate relationships with the Boston Red Sox and the Red Sox Foundation; collaborate on joint initiatives and play a leadership role in the strategy and execution of opportunities surrounding the 75th anniversary of the Red Sox/Jimmy Fund partnership in 2028.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees a team of 20, with 3 direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with 15 years of experience in community engagement, strategic partnerships, fundraising, or related fields with increased leadership responsibilities.
