Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our Retirement Product team as anAssistant Vice President, Registered Product Development!
About the role
As an Assistant Vice President of Registered Product Development, you will lead the annuity product development process for registered products for the Retirement Division. Your team will be responsible for the creation, development and execution of the market intelligence program for registered products. Your team will analyze competitor and market data, identify product needs and opportunities, recommend and vet product ideas internally and externally, prioritize and maintain the product development pipeline, work closely with the actuary team on product pricing and risk analysis, and create new product specifications and scope for handoff to implementation teams. You will also work closely with the customer and partner experience teams to align experience enhancements to new product features. This position also involves managing the work of analysts supporting product development and market intelligence.
Responsibilities
Manage overall RD registered product development process, including regular meetings and reports to management.
Own the vision and ongoing strategy for market intelligence programs for registered products, gathering feedback and aligning with product, sales and corporate strategic goals.
Create market intelligence programs, develop resources and roles, and establish functions necessary to carry out market intelligence strategy, including product positioning, marketing and sales ideas, product development, pricing and industry research.
Build a high performance team culture and instill continuous improvement in all market intelligence processes.
Analyze market research and competitive environment to propose product changes and new product development ideas.
Lead product design and assist in writing product specs for new products or product changes, seeking agreement on product specs with stakeholders.
Represent Retirement Division externally with regulators, distribution partners, vendors, and industry groups and serve as product expert and evangelist across the organization. May occasionally be involved in product implementation including work related to regulatory filings, product marketing, and system specifications.
Lead other initiatives or teams related to product development, including but not limited to: product lifecycle management, product launch planning, customer and advisor experience improvements relating to Retirement products.
May lead a team of product and market intelligence analysts.

Compensation
$133,500 - $222,400/annually plus eligibility for annual bonus program
Who you are
High school diploma required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience required
5-10 years experience in annuity product management
Expert level knowledge of one or more annuity product lines
Strong understanding of annuity regulation and competitive environments
FINRA Series 6 license
Ability to use financial analysis to build business cases for new products or initiatives
Strong relationship management skills
