JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Application Engineer role implements and maintains vendor, and in-house, software applications across all Parks. This includes installation and implementation, as well as maintaining system administration, configuring software systems and troubleshooting, system interfaces and integrations, while providing day to day support to existing software applications.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide day-to-day application support on software systems at all Parks Technology locations. This includes after hours, weekends and on-call support.
Research into software-related issues and products. Monitor system alerts, analyze logs, troubleshoot to replicate errors, determine root cause, and communicate findings to resolve issues. Liaise with other technical teams to assist in resolving problems with software products and/or configuration of hardware components.
Build and maintain software system configuration of supported applications while adhering to defined standards.
Design and run test cases on new and existing applications for the purposes of systems validation, correcting errors or isolating areas for improvement and general debugging.
Understand, write, and maintain application technical documentation for all software applications including evolving processes.
Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
2+ years of work experience in IT, preferred in IT Support roles. Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with server management is required. Be able to perform server upgrades and server patching a must.
Experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
Understanding of SQL database and query best practices, including triggers, stored procedures and reporting using SQL Server Reporting Services is preferred.
Understanding of platforms such as Windows and be able to read logs for triaging and troubleshooting.
Experience with Programming Languages, like Powershell and SQL, is preferred.
Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
