Job Type: Officer of AdministrationRegular/Temporary: RegularHours Per Week: 35Salary Range: $90,000 - $97,900The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The Associate Director works as part of the Career Design Lab team in advising and educating students regarding career goals, strategies and individual professional development.
The Associate Director conducts individual advising sessions, small group workshops and presentations.
The Associate Director will work closely with the Director of Career Design Lab in marketing, facilitating and evaluating career development programming including workshops, panels, speakers and networking opportunities as well as help in managing the web-based career management system, website and online programming as well as general employer relations.
This role will ensure that students have the opportunity to explore career options and develop career decision-making skills.
The position will lead and oversee efforts to design, deliver and evaluate services, programs that support the acquisition of professional development skills and knowledge, as well as self-assessment and understanding for programs.
Responsible for direct supervision of Assistant Directors and/or Career Coaches.
Responsibilities Career Services Generalist Provide school-wide programs and services for students, alumni, and employers.Work in various Standing teams on long-term, school-wide projects, services, and programs as well as Agile Teams for short-term pilot projects and testing.Program-specific Support Work directly with academic directors and administrators from assigned programs for tailored support for students, alumni and employers.Provide career advising including individual coaching sessions to students, resume/CV critiques, and the administration of assessment inventories, mock interviews, and job search techniques.Develop a repository of career development resources (e.g.
external resources as well as internally produced materials).Facilitate a wide-range of recruitment opportunities for the benefit of SPS students in your assigned program(s); manage the design and delivery of recruiting activities for these students; maintain relationships to support the potential of future opportunities; uphold quality of recruiting services provided, and retain employer related data to improve the recruiting program.Align qualified student talent with employer interest and needs; implement assessment based strategies to effectively cultivate student talent; manage the coordination of program-specific career events; oversee the communication between appropriate campus departments and program participants; conduct on-going assessment and provide feedback as to the effectiveness of such events.Maintain the quality of resume books and processes, resume referral, and other methods of presenting students and alumni to employers; establish and enforce guidelines for student participation in the recruiting program including recruiting deadlines, procedures, and schedules.Supervision Provide supervision and support for Assistant Directors and/or Career Coaches in their management with their assigned academic programs.Understand the intricacies and distinctions of each program that Assistant Directors manage and maintain positive and effective relationships with faculty and administrator of those programs.Performs other duties and projects as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required.
Advanced degree desirable.4 years related experience.A resume and cover letter with salary requirements must be submitted for applicant to be considered for the position.Preferred Qualifications Master's degree preferred.Direct supervision of full-time staff preferred.Substantial experience with career services technology in career assessment, recruitment/job boards, Applicant Tracking System (ATS), employer outreach, marketing, social media, survey, and MS office applications.Teaching experience at the graduate level is preferred.Other Requirements Minimum 3 years of career advising in a higher educational setting, with strong career coaching skills, program/workshop development and facilitation experience.Understanding of diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds and inter-generational workforce dynamics.Ability to work well under pressure, balance school-wide and program-specific workload with shifting priorities and short-deadlines.Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently and carefully manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with short deadlines in a high volume environment.Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills required, particularly for building trust and effective relationships with assigned academic programs.Equal Opportunity Employer / Disability / Veteran
