Job Summary/Basic Functions The Office of Admissions provides information and administrative support to prospective students and implements recruitment, marketing, and yield strategies to attract and enroll new freshmen and transfer students; to enhance the visibility of VSU within the high school community, community colleges in Virginia and outside of Virginia; and the university's overall goal of increasing enrollment.
This role will be instrumental with the following duties and responsibilities:
Create the recruitment strategy to increase undergraduate applications for admissions from special populations (e.g. military, international, readmits, and continuing education); enhance the visibility of VSU within the military community, aid international students through the admissions process, and actively engage with re-admits and continuing education students. Respond to inquiries and questions to ensure applicants submit required admission documentation. Construct innovative methods to process transcripts, in-state tuition forms, reference letters, and certificates of admission, permanent resident cards, response forms, and test scores using Slate. Perform duties as a Slate Co-Captain and create reports for internal VSU departments as well as external contracted vendors for the Office of Admissions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Understanding of Higher Education and University Admissions Processes Ability to maintain excellent records in a database in a fast-paced and flexible working environment Must be computer literate, with knowledge of university-related technical platforms (CRM, Banner, or Slate) Management, Supervisory, or Leadership skills Excellent organization skills and ability to perform well in front of large audiences Ability to travel for recruitment events which may include nights and weekends Ability to deal effectively with others, working in a collaborative environment Independent worker, decisive, proactive, enthusiastic, and strong interpersonal skills Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree required Extensive knowledge of admissions and recruitment strategies Experience at a college or university setting Demonstrated proven troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve issues related to software, hardware, and network issues Demonstrated ability to think critically and analytically Must demonstrate the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment Must have demonstrated ability to be proactive, positive, organized, and solution-focused
