Salary Range: $68,000 - $74,000 yearly, depending on qualifications and experience

Reporting to the Associate Vice President of International Education and Global Engagement, the Associate Director of Global Learning & Engagement will be responsible for developing, promoting, and managing global engagement learning opportunities at Shoreline Community College. This position supports the College mission to "foster an educational environment that contributes to the enrichment of both our local and global communities," as well as the Equity-Centered Strategic Plan goal to: "Strengthen Shoreline Community College's identity and brand and cultivate Shoreline as a hub for global learning and experiences."
This role will lead coordination efforts with faculty, staff, and external partners to enhance global learning opportunities for students and foster a culturally inclusive campus environment. This position oversees the study abroad programs, including developing and promoting programs, and advising student participants. Additionally, this position will lead the Global Learning at Shoreline (GLaS) advisory group in exploring, pursuing, and developing new Global Learning opportunities such as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs. As an administrator in International Education (IE), this position works closely with departmental administrators, faculty, and staff to further department and College goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Study Abroad (25%)

Using strategic planning, develop, implement, and manage study abroad programs, including short-term, semester-long, and exchange programs, in collaboration with faculty and other staff as needed.

Serve as the Shoreline representative on the Washington State Community College Consortium for Study Abroad (WCCCSA), collaborating with colleagues across the state to promote, implement, and manage study abroad programs through the consortium.

Guide students on study abroad opportunities, application processes, scholarships, and travel arrangements; Serve as on-campus point of contact for students while they are abroad; respond to emergent situations as needed.

Regularly monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of study abroad programs with the goal of seeking continuous improvement.

Campus Internationalization (25%)

Work with academic departments and provide resources and guidance to faculty to integrate global perspectives into their curriculum and related co-curricular activities; work with faculty to explore and implement Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) programs in partnership with international institutions.

Plan and execute events, workshops, and seminars for staff, faculty, and/or students that promote global awareness and intercultural understanding.

Explore additional opportunities for campus internationalization, including but not limited to: hosting visiting scholars, pursuing appropriate grant funding, and contributing to other departmental/college internationalization efforts and activities.

Global Learning at Shoreline (GLaS) -(10%)

Lead the Global Learning at Shoreline (GLaS) advisory group, coordinating efforts to promote global learning across the campus; facilitate meetings, set agendas, and track progress on GLaS initiatives.

Collaborate with committee members to identify and implement strategies for enhancing global learning opportunities.

Outreach and Recruitment – (30%)

Recruit international students for Shoreline Community College and increase international student enrollment from assigned markets.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with external entities to enhance international student recruitment efforts, including overseas high schools and universities, overseas agent partners, and Education USA, among others; serve as one of the primary contacts to partners in assigned countries providing comprehensive information related to the College's offerings and admissions requirements.

Represent the College effectively in assigned countries at international student recruiting fairs and marketing events.

Work closely with IE's Outreach team and department leadership to develop and implement international enrollment strategies, including setting recruitment goals, developing marketing strategies, and planning recruitment activities.

Identify and pursue innovative opportunities such as new partnership models and technologies. Demonstrate agility in adapting strategies to shifting market conditions.

Other Responsibilities – (10%)

Support the Associate VP in engaging with local communities with global ties to support the College's strategic goals; explore partnerships, resources, and/or learning opportunities with local, national, and international organizations such as NAFSA, CCID, the State Department, and more.

Contribute to yearly assessment and strategic planning initiatives, as well as general departmental efforts for effectively serving and supporting all students at Shoreline. These may include but are not limited to maintaining a centralized webpage for information and resources about global learning and engagement, supporting major department-wide activities such as Orientation and International Education Week, and providing support and collaboration with department colleagues in general efforts to serve students, prospective students, and external partners.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in International Studies, Communications, Marketing, International Education, or related field.

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in study abroad program management, international education, or related areas.

Knowledge of:

Global education trends, best practices, and regulations.

Risk management in study abroad programs, exchange programs, or similar.

Microsoft Office applications and virtual meeting tools such as Zoom or Teams.

Skill in:

Fostering a climate of equity/belonging through multicultural awareness and responsiveness.

Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all organizational levels.

Time management, multitasking, and coordinating outcomes/activities with multiple partners.

Interpreting applicable laws, regulations, and policies accurately.

Effectively communicating with individuals at all levels.

Handling sensitive situations using sound independent judgment within legal guidelines.

Developing specialized services and support specific to the populations served.

Handling difficult and sensitive situations, using sound judgment within legal guidelines.

Collaborating with or leading groups of people in various situations including open discussion, training sessions, workgroups, and committees.

Conditions of Employment

Physical Work Environment:
The College is currently providing services in a mixed modality of operations (both online and in-person services are offered). Administrators are assigned to work on campus, noting there may be some opportunities to work remotely based on program or area needs. If authorized for limited remote work, employees will need to provide their own workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. When working on-campus, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus, using the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means. This position also works weekends and evenings when appropriate or needed is required. Some travel may be required for recruitment, site visits, conferences, and partnership development.

Terms Of Employment/Salary:
This is a full-time administrative/exempt annually contracted position with initial salary placement determined by the College dependent upon education/experience. Hiring of this position is contingent upon available funding as determined by the College President.
