Associate Director, Residential Education Office Safety & Conduct

Position SummaryThe Associate Director of Residential Education for Safety and Conduct reports directly to the Director of Residential Education and is responsible for professional staff supervision, oversight of front desk management, crisis management, program implementation, and budget planning. The ADRE develops and maintains relationships with faculty, college administration and staff, and representatives from various public agencies and professional organizations. The ADRE supervises four to six full-time professional employees (Assistant Program Coordinators) in performing their job duties as members of the residence hall staff for a residential population of between 7,500-8,200 students. The Associate Director of Residential Education provides oversight for the management of the front desks located in on-campus housing facilities. This includes desk assistant selection and training processes as well as proposing and tracking desk budgets. The ADRE is also responsible for behavioral control and contract enforcement processes which encourage individual student responsibility for behavior within the residence hall community. The ADRE partners in the implementation of the residential conduct process and serves as a Conduct Officer for student disciplinary cases that take place in the residential communities.The ADRE will participate as appropriate in various Residential Education programs and will carry out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Residential Education. The ADRE will also participate in the Administrator on-call emergency response rotation for the on-campus residential communities. This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.Department SummaryThe Residential Education Office is designated as the University department responsible for planning and administering Residential Education programs and services including those in traditional residence halls and apartment complexes. Key QualificationsDiversity training; experience working with and supporting the success of diverse student populations in a large urban university setting.Experience working with and understanding of developmental needs of freshmen/first year and sophomore/second-year students.Freshman transition and identity development teaching experience.Experience utilizing and developing on-line training tools.Previous large-scale program development and implementation.Compensation and BenefitsSan Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
