Position Overview of the Associate General Counsel: As the Associate General Counsel at BLT, you will play a critical role in managing legal matters related to our real estate business. You will work closely with the General Counsel and other key stakeholders to provide legal guidance and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Position allows for training and advancement within Building and Land Technology.
Key Responsibilities of the Associate General Counsel: Contract Management: Review, and draft various real estate contracts, including but not limited to purchase agreements, lease agreements, and development agreements. Ensure that contracts align with company objectives and comply with legal requirements.Due Diligence: Oversee due diligence processes for real estate transactions, including title examinations, environmental assessments, and zoning reviews. Identify and mitigate potential risks.Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to real estate. Ensure the company's operations are in compliance with all applicable laws.Litigation Management: Manage and oversee real estate-related litigation, including disputes with clients, tenants, contractors, and other parties. Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed.Property Transactions: Assist with property acquisitions, dispositions, and financing transactions. Ensure that all legal aspects are properly addressed to facilitate smooth transactions.Corporate Governance: Support corporate governance activities, including board meetings, compliance reporting, and other legal corporate matters.Risk Management: Identify legal risks associated with real estate transactions and provide strategies for mitigating such risks.Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of company policies related to real estate operations, compliance, and risk management.Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the real estate, finance, and operations teams, to provide legal guidance and support.Associate General Counsel Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law schoolAdmission to the state bar and license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction3-5 years of relevant legal experience in real estate law; conveyancing, financing, easement, environmental and zoning experience or supervising outside counsel experience preferredLocal area knowledge (Stamford + Norwalk markets) requiredAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsBenefits Provided to the Position of Associate General Counsel: Competitive Salary with Potential for BonusMedical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision Plan401k PlanLife InsurancePaid VacationPaid Sick LeavePaid HolidaysTuition ReimbursementHousing Discount at BLT Owned PropertiesBLT is an equal opportunity employer.
