Major, Lindsey & Africas client is seeing an Associate Counsel.
This Counsel will report to the General Counsel and work with a multitude of individuals (both internally and externally) with various legal, human resources, accounting and financial backgrounds who handle the legal, regulatory, compliance and transactional work for the company.
Overview: Associate Legal Counsel
Company: Publicly traded asset management firm

Location: Hybrid Dallas, Texas
Responsibilities: Assist in management of compliance and regulatory responsibilities that apply US public companies and companies in the financial services, asset management, and registered investment advisor spaces.
Contract review, negotiation, management, and tracking.
Identifying, assessing, and addressing complex legal and regulatory issues and providing informed legal advice and guidance within tight time constraints.
Work collaboratively with cross-functional business partners to proactively address risks.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents.
Create and manage departmental tracking spreadsheets on various legal and compliance topics, updating various stakeholders on key items as needed.
Keep current on proposed regulatory changes and work with the General Counsel to keep business partners updated on changes in the law and compliance measures for same.
Legal research and summary writing regarding various matters impacting the business.
Qualifications: Must have a J.D.
from an accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the state in which the candidate will practice.
2-7+ years of relevant legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house legal department.
Highly preferred to have experience in compliance and regulatory issues, ideally within the financial services industry.
Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills.
Must be highly attentive to detail, organized, and initiative taking, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently and independently.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional judgment when weighing both legal and business risk.
Collaborative working style, with high EQ, and ability to work well with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
