PurposeThe position of Associate Medical Director reports to the Head of Medical Affairs Hematology- Immunology Medical Director and is part of the Global Medical Affairs team supporting the development and implementation of the products' Global Medical strategy and acting as an internal subject matter expert within the therapeutic area.
Main ResponsibilitiesExecute strategic medical tactics under guidance from the Head of Medical Affairs related tactics to answer the unmet medical need in Iron chelation and ADA-SCID. This includes initiating and maintaining relationships with thought leaders (in collaboration with Medical Science Liaisons), support of research and educational projects within priority areas, and presentation of key scientific findings.Support the development of short and long-term goals of Medical Affairs with respect to prioritization of research interests and prioritization of desired collaborations with specific investigators and institutions.Participate in long-range planning, manage project plans, assess resource needs, and develop and implement processes and standards within the medical perimeter.Collaborate with MSLs to align on medical activities and ensure Global Medical is sufficiently aware of affiliate and regional insights and needs.Lead content development for advisory board meetings and other Global Medical initiatives.Support congress planning activities related to content and speaker selection for medical symposia and medical booths, as well as KOL engagement.Represent Chiesi at meetings and conferences, and in other interactions with key opinion leaders in collaboration with other functions.Support data generation activities including review of research grants and post-marketing research proposals and protocols, initiation of start-up activities and contractual documents.Support data publication activities and data presentation to internal and external stakeholders.As a content expert, review medical and promotional materials to ensure scientific accuracy and overall alignment with strategy and messaging in compliance with corporate standards and government/industry regulations.Participate in the development and delivery of medical training materials for field teams.Experience RequiredExperience in rare diseases is a plus.Strong interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and to establish strong relationships with KOLs in collaboration with medical field teams.Excellent written and oral communication skills are imperative with the ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific medical and regulatory information to internal and external audiences.Be hands-on and accountable.Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment, work independently, and complete tasks in a timely fashion.Excellent organizational skills and operational effectiveness with a flexible and solution-driven attitude and proven ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and navigate within cross-functional teams.Experience managing multiple priorities in combination with great attention to detail as well as the ability to prioritize in a changing environment with a sense of urgency.Have scope for personal growth and development.This position is based in Boston, MA; up to 35% travel might be required.EducationAdvanced Degree required - MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent; minimum of 5 years of combined pharmaceutical industry and academic/clinical medicine expertise.
