The Opportunity
EWI are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Planner/Senior Project Manager to join this company and support in their newly finalized 5 year-growth plan and beyond.
This is an opportunity to be in a Team Leadership position and to have direct supervision of a small team initially (approx.
2-3 direct reports), as well as being involved in a Seller-Doer capacity, helping contribute to Business Development and Sales/Marketing efforts.
As a Senior Project Manager in this small company, you will be considered a key, senior figure in the company and have a voice within the company and leadership.
The Senior Environmental Planner/Senior Project Manager is responsible for all aspects of project delivery including keeping the client informed of the on-going status of a project, providing adequate management and project planning, budget management, profitability, and support to the members of the project team.
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the quality control and quality assurance of all work that is submitted to a client on their behalf.
The Senior Project Manager works on complex and controversial projects which require a senior level of expertise and strategy development.
Job Role / Responsibilities
Acting as the Senior Environmental Planner/Senior Project Manager, the responsibilities for this role will include:
Technical Work Prepare CEQA/NEPA Document Sections Project Management Develop project strategies and initiating/leading project kick off meetings and debrief meetings after project conclusion Manage project planning, process approach and preparation/completion of deliverables Coordinate staffing needs for each project Manage scope and budget for complex projects Maximize project profitability Team Leadership/Development Manage, support and offer training/mentorship to individual staff members Provide feedback on strengths and areas for improvement to help achieve each individual's maximum potential and personal goals.
Client Relations Partner with clients to understand and achieve their goals Initiate and maintain client relations through day to day contact and communication Marketing Proactive in presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of the company Create marketing strategies and position company for upcoming projects Attend pre-bid meetings and participate in project interviews Solicit new clients/projects through interfacing with potential or existing clients, identifying opportunities to develop proposals for new work Qualifications/Desired Skills Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Planning, Environmental Studies or related field Minimum of 8 years' (10 years+ ideally) Environmental Planning experience, with at least 2 years in a Project Management role Must have previous experience in Environmental Consulting Technical expertise in CEQA/NEPA Document Preparation and strong writing/communication skills Previous experience working with either Transportation or Land Use Planning projects/clients (preferred) Knowledge of local agencies/regulations for San Francisco Bay Area Hybrid Working Policy
This position will require you to attend a local office (Oakland or San Jose) either twice a week or once a month, depending on proximity to office.
Salary Package
The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $170,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications, as well as discretionary End of Year bonus and Ownership at the Associate Principal-Level.
