The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) announces a vacancy as a 50% Associate Professor in Transformation at the Institute of Architecture, to be combined with an active practice in the field. The position involves teaching MA studios in design, seminars on the theories of preservation, and advising diploma students.
The Institute of Architecture holds a strong position in architectural history and in the field of preservation and transformation of architecture, running a number of studios and seminars, as well as international research projects involving several PhD-students in the field. The Institute teaches at all levels in the school's curriculum: BA, MA, and the PhD-program. Based on multidisciplinary and critical approaches, the research and teaching span from theory to practice, encompassing the history and theory of preservation, technology and materials, methods and techniques, as well as heritage policy and circular methodologies. Anchored in a studio-based teaching tradition, the emphasis is on architectural design, including a wide range of drafting techniques, model-building, surveying, archival research, and writing. We are presently emphasizing strategies for working with architecture from the recent past, spanning from monuments to the vernacular. The preservation program's extensive national and international collaboration with partners from academia and architectural practices are constantly strengthened through new research projects and teaching initiatives. AHO's executive master in architectural heritage was established in 2005, and AHO runs, with Arkitektskolen Aarhus, Kungliga Kunsthögskolan and Aalto University, a Nordic executive master in architectural heritage (NORDMAK).
The workplace is AHO´s location in Oslo and physical presence is expected.
Responsibilities

To teach and supervise MA/diploma students
To develop the preservation and transformation curriculum through studios and seminars in collaboration with colleagues and actors within the field
To participate in research projects in the field of transformation and circular architecture
To develop international teaching collaborations
To occasionally partake in the post-professional MA in Architectural heritage and NORDMAK
To carry out administrative duties in accordance with the needs of the program
Other applicable tasks within teaching, research, development and administration at the Institute of Architecture
Minimum Requirements

Applicants must hold a MA in Architecture
Extensive practical experience as an architect within the field of preservation and transformation
Academic or artistic production within the field of architecture equivalent to PhD level. Professional quality, development potential, breadth in competence and innovation in architectural practice will be prioritized, in this order.
Documented broad and relevant teaching experience, acquired through pedagogical education or experience in teaching and supervision. The successful candidate who at the time of appointment cannot document formal teaching qualifications (minimum formal requirement is a 200 hrs pedagogical program) will be required to obtain such qualifications within a two-year period.
The successful candidate should demonstrate mastery of both English and one of the Scandinavian languages as working languages. If an appointee is not fluent in a Scandinavian language, she/he is expected to reach proficiency equivalent to level B2 in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) within three years. Potential to contribute to the long-term development of the academic and research environment at the Institute and to initiate joint projects.
Experience with and ability to build collaborative (international) networks.

We are looking for an international profile in the field, with a portfolio that displays an innovative and critical approach to preservation and transformation. The applicants will be assessed on the basis of artistic criteria and the quality of their architectural work. Originality and innovative thinking are preferred to quantity. Applicants must prove collaborative skills as we search for a productive and central member of our institute.

Portfolio of architectural works to be considered as most relevant for the position (up to 10 projects for expert assessment)
Educational portfolio of 3-3 pages documenting educational competence and experience, including a reflection note in which your own practice and learning vision is described
Relevant certificates and diplomas

We offer/Vi tilbyr

Salary NOK 730000 – 850 000 (per annum in 100% position) in a position code (SKO) 1011 associate professor depending on qualifications. 2% of the salary is deducted for social security fund.
