Associate Teacher, Kindergarten Chinese Immersion

Role Overview Support head teachers to prepare and deliver kindergarten curriculum and instruction using Mandarin Chinese language skills. Support establishment of a target language classroom conducive to learning. Support students' social, emotional and academic growth in both English and Mandarin Chinese languages. Support nursery curriculum for individual, small group and remedial instruction to meet the language targets of identified students or subgroups of students. Support student-centered discussion in which students share ideas and present solutions. Prepare, administer and assist with assignments. Monitor student social and cultural growth to appropriately support teaching methodologies, including demonstrations, discussions and lectures. Role requirements Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Bilingual/Bicultural Education, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, Chinese Language and Literature, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, or related field, plus one academic year of experience teaching early childhood instruction in an immersion setting required. Must read, write, and speak Mandarin Chinese.
