Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Athletic Equipment Manager, the Athletic Equipment Assistant supports the management of athletic equipment and supplies used by the 19 sports of the intercollegiate sports program.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with receiving, taking inventory of, and tracking, storing, repairing and distributing equipment and uniforms for approximately 300 student-athletes.
Assist with collecting and laundering uniforms, practice gear and team travel gear, training room and strength complex towels.
Collect items delivered to University Receiving for coaches and staff.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to sort, maintain, and inventory supplies, as well as mend and perform simple sewing by hand and machine. Experience in collecting and laundering uniforms and practice gear. Previous desktop computer experience, with a preference for using Microsoft Word and Excel. Skilled in inputting data and keeping simple records.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
• Equivalent to high school diploma required.
• Previous experience working in an NCAA Division I environment preferred.
Physical Summary
Medium work - Job involves lifting heavy-weight objects (20-40 pounds) and/or 20% - 40% of the job involves standing, squatting, kneeling, or walking. May require pushing or pulling objects within the weight limits.
Licenses / Certificates
• Possession of or ability to obtain an American Red Cross First Aid Certificate required.
• CA Driver's License required.
Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

The salary range for this classification is $21.23 to $29.48 per hour.
Time Base
Hourly/intermittent on call temporary position. Successful candidates may be appointed for a few days and up to one (1) year depending on the assignment. Temporary assignments may expire prior to the ending date.
