Description
Evaluates hearing of children and provides therapy for patients with hearing loss.
Qualifications
Minimum Education
Master's Degree - Clinical Doctorate in Audiology (Required)
Required Skills/Knowledge
Experience in the evaluation, remediation and management of children with hearing loss.
Required Licenses and Certifications
Audiologist must be licensed in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia (in VA, Hearing Aid Dispenser's license also required).
Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (Required).
Functional Accountabilities
Clinical Evaluation and Hearing Aid Assessment
Conduct audiological evaluations and hearing aid evaluations in an efficient manner using the appropriate test procedures.
Conducts Parent Counseling and Makes Recommendations
Counsel parents and children regarding test findings and recommendations.
Make all appropriate referrals.
Clinical Caseload Management
Maintain a caseload comparable to other clinical audiologists.
Equipment Maintenance
Calibrate and troubleshoot equipment as needed.
Safety
Speak up when team members appear to exhibit unsafe behavior or performance.
Continuously validate and verify information needed for decision making or documentation.
Stop in the face of uncertainty and take time to resolve the situation.
Demonstrate accurate, clear and timely verbal and written communication.
Actively promote safety for patients, families, visitors and co-workers.
Attend carefully to important details - practicing Stop, Think, Act and Review in order to self-check behavior and performance.
