The Iowa Division of Banking is a state agency charged with the supervision and regulation of state-chartered commercial banks in Iowa. The bank examiner position provides a great opportunity for an individual to participate in safety & soundness examinations designed to assess a financial institution's overall financial condition and compliance with laws and regulations. Qualifications Required: A degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major field of study in accounting, banking, business administration, commercial or banking law, economics, finance, business education, or another business-related field; or at least four years of experience in auditing, accounting, banking, examining financial institutions or in an occupation which provides knowledge of accounting or auditing principles and practices. A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher Minimum of 6 hours of accounting A valid driver's license (travel required within assigned region) The successful candidate(s) will conduct and direct examinations of state-chartered banks, their holding companies, subsidiaries, and affiliates. When not supervising/directing the examination, the employee assists in the examination of an institution and may be assigned the responsibility for supervising/directing the evaluation of a segment of the examination. Work assignments are performed under the direction and review of the Regional Manager, their designee, a designated examiner-in-charge (regardless of grade level), or the central office. Work products submitted will be technically correct and require no significant changes. Requirements for the position and additional duties and responsibilities are outlined in the DAS description for Bank Examiner, which can be found at: (Download PDF reader) Region 2 includes the following counties: Worth, Mitchell, Howard, Winneshiek, Allamakee, Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Chickasaw, Fayette, Clayton, Franklin, Butler, Bremer, Hardin, Grundy, Black Hawk, Buchanan, Delaware, Tama, Benton, and Linn. Candidates willing to live in Region 2 are strongly preferred for the Region 2 position. Region 3 includes the following counties: Lyon, Osceola, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Winnebago, Sioux, O'Brien, Clay, Palo Alto, Hancock, Plymouth, Cherokee, Buena Vista, Pocahontas, Humboldt, Wright, Woodbury, Ida, Sac, Calhoun, Webster, Hamilton, Monona, Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, and Story. Candidates willing to live in Region 3 are strongly preferred for the Region 3 position. (Click here to see region map.) Salary commensurate with experience within State of Iowa pay grade 39(-06) (which currently begins at $68,764.80). The State of Iowa offers a competitive benefits package. Minimum Qualification Requirements Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting, banking, business education, real estate, business administration, economics or finance;
OR experience in auditing, accounting, banking or examining financial institutions may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one year (thirty semester hours is equivalent to one year) up to a maximum substitution of four years.
