The Wilmington, Delaware office of Cozen O'Connor is currently seeking an experienced paralegal for its Bankruptcy, Insolvency & Restructuring Group.
The position supports a lead and multiple attorneys who represent debtors, trustees and creditors' committees in chapter 11 reorganization and chapter 7 cases and related litigation.
This position will also support Cozen's busy Delaware Litigation Practice Group.
The position requires a professional team player who works well independently, can multi-task efficiently and has the ability to communicate and interact effectively with attorneys, co-workers, clients and court staff.
Qualifications and Skills:
Excellent written/oral communication, organizational and interactional skills. Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and multitask in a deadline-driven environment. Prepare, organize, track and maintain case files.
Knowledge of Best Case, Relativity, DeskSite (iManage), Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PACER/ECF, and File&ServeXpress websites preferred. Knowledge of legal software including West Law and LexisNexis preferred.
Experience with e-filing pleadings in all Delaware state and federal courts. Flexibility with work schedule to handle after-business hours filings as needed and emergency situations. Bankruptcy responsibilities:
Knowledge of chapter 11 and chapter 7 bankruptcy procedures and at least three years related bankruptcy experience. Knowledge of and ability to electronically file (CM/ECF and File&ServeXpress) pleadings. Draft basic pleadings including motions, notices, proposed orders, agendas, fee applications, proofs of claim, petitions, schedules and statements.
Prepare hearing, fee application and proof of claim binders. Monitor case dockets, document retrieval of filings and maintain service lists.
Maintain calendars and case critical dates to ensure all deadlines are met and work is processed in an effective and efficient manner.
A four-year bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate is required.
