As a Barista with us, you'll be at the heart of our vibrant food service team, working under the guidance of our Executive Director of Auxiliary Services and Frontline Coordinator. In this role, you'll bring your enthusiasm to a variety of tasks, from setting up and cooking delicious food to serving it with a smile. You'll be involved in everything from keeping our work areas sparkling clean to handling our Point of Sale system. Your barista skills will shine as you craft perfect coffee creations and engage warmly with our community. Essential Functions ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Customer Service : Delivers customer service to all customers by acting with a customer-first attitude and connecting with them. Discovers and responds to customer needs. Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating the environment and customers for cues. Answers customers' questions about menu choices. Promotes and recommends menu options to customers. Operational Excellence: Acts with integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of Jackson College. Follows Jackson College operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift. Maintains a clean, organized, and stocked workspace so that customers can locate resources and products as needed. Provides quality beverages, whole bean, and food products consistently for all customers by adhering to all recipe and presentation standards. Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products. Preparing and serving beverages, ranging from simple to elaborate ones. Taking payment from customers. Team Development: Assists with new Barista training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. Inventory and Equipment Management: Maintains inventory and equipment by cleaning and reporting equipment malfunctions to the Dining Director. Process Improvement: Evaluates and recommends modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service. Participates in recipe creation and expanding the menu. College Values and Mission: Responsible for understanding, supporting, and actively demonstrating the College's beliefs, values, mission, and vision, and being in agreement to be evaluated by the same. Adaptability: Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard. Minimum Qualifications K NOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The knowledge, skills and abilities required are often obtained by a High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of: Basic food service operations. Common kitchen appliances and utensils. Cleaning methods. Customer service principles. Ability to: Learn to operate food services equipment/appliances. Learn to operate cash register and point of sale. Observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required. Use effective interpersonal skills to successfully communicate with the general public. Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Frequent reaching, walking, standing, lifting, stooping, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Incumbent may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and fumes. WORK ENVIROMENT Work is generally performed in a commercial cafeteria environment, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Work hours may vary and frequent evening and weekend hours are required. Travel may be required.
