Description
The Bartender provides a primary service to our members and guests and directly impacts the overall member's food and/or drink experience.
Consistency and quality of drinks must be achieved every time, which requires that the bartender always follow recipes.
The Bartender must be friendly, outgoing and possess the ability to communicate well.
Organization is key, and the bartender must be able to multi-task and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
Duties / Responsibilities Passes the Responsible Service of Alcohol Test with a score of 90% or betterEnsures high level of customer service and attention to each member, making sure to acknowledge each member within 30 seconds of reaching the bar area and touching base with the member throughout their visitAttends to all members and/or guests - anticipate rather than making the member and/or guest ask for assistance; offer another drink when their first one is half-fullLearns member names and drink preferences whenever possiblePossesses a modern working knowledge of basic craft cocktail practices, all spirit groups and beer styles, and a basic understanding of popular wine varietals and regionsWorks directly with Bar Manager to prepare any juices, syrups, and ancillary cocktail ingredients, and batches certain cocktails before service or on a separate day than when working behind the barMaintains a clean and well-stocked bar area per Woodside guidelines and ensures all bottles and glasses are arranged correctlyWashes and sterilizes all glasswareWorks diligently and communicates efficiently with other Food + Drink staff to help coordinate member orders for food from the kitchenMixes, garnishes and serves all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks following recipesUtilizes the POS system for all bar purchases through MICROSSecures upfront authorization of payment from members of all sales whether by membership account, credit card or cashKeeps track of number of drinks served per customer; ensures that they do not exceed the allotted number of drinksEvaluates members to determine if they have reached their limit and if they are capable of drivingMaintains clean, organized and visually appealing areas in and around all food + drink outletsMoves throughout the shift with purposeAttends to all members and/or guestsComplies with Club's employee handbook manual, departmental policies and procedures and with all applicable federal and state employment lawsAll other duties as assigned Qualifications Job Standards
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying.
Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Education/Experience: Must be 21 years of age or olderHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum of 1 year of customer service experience is requiredPrior work as a bartender is requiredBasic knowledge of beer, wine and spirits and of general drink recipes is requiredAbility to process basic math skills for change and operate a POS system is required Skills: Professional appearance and demeanorExcellent customer service and strong communications skillsOutgoing and friendly personalityAbility to use computers and related technology efficientlyTime management and organizations skills: ability to multitask in fast paced environmentJudgment and problem-solving skillsAttentive to detail Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License, or reliable form of transportation to work Special Requirements: Ability to stand during entire shiftContinuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipeRemain stationary for long periods of timeFrequently wash handsAble to manipulate fingers, hands and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry and wipeRegular and predictable attendance is requiredAbility to move or lift as much as 50 pounds or more on a regular basisAbility to communicate well both verbally and in written formInterest in wellness and/or fitness is a plus Working Conditions: Operates behind a bar within the Club where many activities and varying noise levels may be going on around the bar areaFlexible and changing working hours - must be available per business needsSchedule will vary based on weather and the needs of the business, particularly for special events, promotions, etc.Hazards may include, but are not limited to: minor cuts, slipping and tripping
