Baseline HSE Specialist – HCCJOB SUMMARYThe Baseline Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist establishes, supports, and promotes a safe, accident-free, and healthy work environment by ensuring the implementation of established safe work practices and by detecting hazards through regular inspections and job safety analyses. The HSE Specialist is also responsible for providing field support and overseeing tasks that have an impact on the environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIESProvide Field HSET support for Baseline (BL) work on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS).Must be willing and able to lead and educate employees in safe work ethics, practices, and behaviors.Inspects work sites to detect existing or potential work sites or environmental hazards.Assists supervisors in determining corrective or preventative measures and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.Provides safety orientations, facilitates safety toolbox meetings, and conducts safety audits.Responsible for assisting with documentation and initial case management of injured workers.Responsible for facilitating formal and informal investigation of incidents and injuries and assists in the preparation of investigation documentation and final investigation reports.Works with BL location supervisors as an HSE resource to ensure compliance with all regulatory, client, and HCC policies and procedures.Responsible for providing annual refresher training and fit testing to Baseline Oil Spill Response personnel at various pump stations.Participates in oil spill drills and training exercises.The candidate must be skilled in the use of standard Industrial Hygiene instruments used to evaluate workplace hazards and the potential for personnel exposure, and knowledgeable about the properties and characteristics of common hazards in the oil and gas industry.Candidate must be able to use these instruments to evaluate the work site prior to the performance of hot work, unit work, and work in confined spaces.Must have a working knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Responsible for maintaining both electronic and hardcopy safety files and records.Must have clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs so personal ethics and bearing are expected to be professional and beyond reproach.Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED EXPERIENCEA valid (U.S issued) Driver's License is required.A High School Diploma or GED is required.The ability to work 77 hours a week on a 3x3 rotation is required.A TWIC Card is required.Professional safety credentials such as: ASP, CSP, CIH, OHST, CHST is required.Five (5) or more years' experience working in a construction or industrial setting, in the Oil and Gas industry, Petrochemical industry, on the North Slope, or in an Arctic environment as a Baseline Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Specialist is required.The ability to qualify as an Oil Spill Responder at the Hazwoper: Hazardous Materials Specialist Level is required.A bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university in an HSE or science-related field or a combination of an associate degree and/or work experience in Health and Safety may be substituted for a bachelor's degree at the discretion of the hiring manager is required.Must be knowledgeable and comfortable with computers and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Operating systems.Must have good verbal communications and technical writing skills and be able to communicate in a clear and concise fashion to personnel at all levels of the organization.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSFive (5) years of pipeline and/or oil and gas experience as a Safety Specialist on the Trans Alaska Pipeline System is preferred.A current Level 2 Alyeska Confined Space Evaluators is preferred.Candidates with current Hazwoper qualifications and/or prior Hazwoper experience are preferred.WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPEWhile working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet are free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

WORK ENVIRONMENTA candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:
Meet the AES Driving Records and Motor Vehicle Use Policy.Take and pass a pre-employment drug test which may include both UA and hair testing.Meet the physical requirements of this position including working in a remote location under arctic conditions.Required to take and pass a Fit-For-Duty Exam.Required to complete and successfully pass a background check.Must be able to obtain and maintain an access badge for the work location.The availability of this position is contingent upon the Company's continued operational needs once training is completed.
