Battery Application Engineer to join our fuel cell electric heavy duty truck team The Sr.
Battery Application Engineer will work with the truck engineering team to define battery specifications, test validations, to ensure product performance, robustness, and safety.
The Sr.
Battery Application Engineer is expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Work with the heavy duty truck build team by providing battery solutions on applications and technical concernsAct as a Subject Matter Expert on battery products and the related applicationsIdentify lithium-ion battery technologies including chemistry/cell/pack; working with the Truck Engineering Team in the development and / or enhancements of the specifications of Hyzon Battery Products to support truck buildInitiate pack tests, monitor and maintain test integrityProvide technical expertise for developing the appropriate testsCollect, organize, process, and analyze large quantities of cell and pack test data to evaluate performance.Assist Engineering, Manufacturing and QC departments with testing; to ensure that products meet the truck build expectations, within the agreed deadlines.Write application notes and technical solutions, as required.Up to 20% domestic and international travel may be expected for this position Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)3+ years hands-on experience in application experience in batteriesExperience in pack design parameters and critical process parametersExperience in battery pack tests for validation of performance, reliability, and safety, along with battery test conditions/requirementsExperience with automotive applications, including design, measurement and instrumentation, controlsUnderstanding of Hybrid Battery and Hybrid Vehicle operationsAbility to work non-standard hours to collaborate with suppliers in different time zonesExcellent teamwork, communication and interpersonal skillsHigh level understanding of hardware and software design and failure modes in electronic modulesStrong communication and organizational skillsProblem-solving skills involving complex systemsProficient in MS Office Preferred Qualifications 3+ years Project Management experienceKnowledge of hybrid/electric vehicle configurations and controlsUnderstanding of operation and power electronic controls of (BMS) Battery Monitoring System, DCDC, Charger and Motor InverterKnowledge of vehicle serial data communications (CAN(SAE J1939), LIN, Ethernet) and electrical architecturesKnowledge of mechatronics, microcontroller architectures, memory technologies, and programmingKnowledge of automotive functional safety (ISO26262) standardsExperience using Catia V5/V6 or similar toolsExperience with electrical and EMC testing
