Join Ford Motor Company's electrification journey as a battery pack assembly process engineer within the Battery Manufacturing Engineering (BME) organization. Ford is investing over $50 Billion to build state-of-the art manufacturing facilities in US and Eu to manufacture an exciting portfolio of EV vehicles. State of the art technologies and processes for battery cell, arrays and packs form a core of our competitive leadership strategy. Working with a strong team of battery cell technology partners we are building brand-new mega manufacturing facilities and will leverage Ford's 100+ years of automobile manufacturing expertise and will be among the largest cell manufacturing campuses in U.S. Like the iconic Rouge complex in Michigan did a century earlier. Ford has selected to partner with global partners for their battery expertise, these facilities under construction now and others in time will usher in a new era for American manufacturing.
In this Manufacturing Engineering role, you will work actively on industrialization of battery pack manufacturing with a diverse, multi-functional team to specify, deliver and commission state-of-the-art processes and equipment to produce EV products that meet the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction in the New Energy Vehicles of tomorrow. What you'll do...
Establish a complete battery manufacturing process, for cell-to-pack assembly system. This includes designing the production line layout and implementing all manufacturing procedures and follow through to launch at the factory.
Drive design for manufacturing (DFM) for new cell-to-pack battery products by leading simultaneous engineering efforts with product, purchasing, and supplier teams, ensuring manufacturing feasibility.
Develop competitive, high-ROI automation solutions by collaborating with technology partners to improve productivity.
Lead the development of quality control methods, including PFMEA, gauge R&R studies, and inspection procedures, creating a comprehensive control plan aligned with the overall quality strategy.
Collaborate with industrial engineering to define cycle time, OEE, and other key performance indicators (KPIs), and develop optimal operating and labor strategies to meet these targets.
Develop and maintain complete documentation packages for new manufacturing processes. This includes detailed process instructions, technical drawings, preventative maintenance plans, spare parts lists, and operator training manuals.
Proactively manage project schedules, budgets, and change requests to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Collaborate with building and facilities teams to install new equipment, ensuring successful acceptance testing. Provide ongoing support to plant operations to optimize performance (OEE, cycle time, JPH) and facilitate a seamless transition of new processes and systems
Ensure compliance with Ford safety regulations and industry standards for battery manufacturing.
Travel to domestic and international manufacturing facilities to collaborate with team members, oversee vendor runoff, and in-plant runoff.
Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and OEM partner(s) to ensure project success and timely delivery of products.
You'll have...
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Experience developing new automated manufacturing processes in the battery and/or automotive industry implementing large scale projects as a Manufacturing Engineer or Project Manager, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience.
Understanding/Experience in cell-to-pack or cell-to-module assembly processes
Experience designing mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling, through use of digital tools and methods with clear understanding of tolerance stack up and GD&T.
Must have deep knowledge and understand of assembly systems and process flow, with the ability to identify and utilize new technologies to improve manufacturing processes.
Self-starting, initiative-taking with exemplary influential, organizational, and communication skills.
Must be a collaborator with willingness to take leadership role in project setting and have the ability and aptitude to manage technical aspects of the position.

Experience as a lead engineering developing new automated manufacturing processes in the battery and/or automotive industry
