OVERVIEW
The Battery Test Technician is responsible for supporting product development through the initial set up of battery testing and the transition to failure analysis upon test completion.
ACCOUNTABLE FOR
The timely establishment of cells and batteries on test equipment, proper documentation of required activities and clear and articulate communication to team members regarding the transition to failure analysis.
All Test Lab employees are accountable for maintaining the laboratory in a safe and well-ordered state.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSBILITIES: Setup of cell and batteries and operation of battery cycling equipment (MACCOR, ARBIN, PEC, NEWare) in accordance with the Eos Test Lab Operation Work Procedures
Requires the ability to maneuver in low and/or tight spaces to connect cables and wiring. Maintain thorough records using team whiteboard, Lab Notebooks and Test Lab Laptop for all batteries put on and/or taken off test Follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
Troubleshoot and resolve test and equipment issues as needed Provide an open line of communication with both experiment owners and FA team members for post-mortem analyses. Soldering, crimping, stripping, heat shrink, small fixture building and repair of cable assemblies ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of MACCOR, ARBIN, PEC, and NEWare battery cyclers, or similar power electronics equipment Knowledge of Flirone or other temperature inspection tool Knowledge of interpretation of electrical results related to cells and batteries Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel Exceptional organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail required Good working knowledge of testing rechargeable cells, batteries and systems Rigorous adherence to the scientific method and internal peer review procedures Superior verbal and written communication skills Ability to sit, stand, squat, bend and stretch and manover in tight spaces Ability to wear steel toe shoes daily EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High School Diploma required, technical degree preferred 3-5 years with electrical, electronics, assemby in a manufacturing or lab environment Exposure and experience with battery test labs and procedures desired Experience with low and high-voltage systems and related safety protocols highly desired
